Alpaca Fiber Roving & Yarn, Farm and Fiber, Upton MA

Alpacas belong to the camelid family and are about one-half the size of llamas. Our Huacaya alpacas have beautiful, dense and luxurious fiber with crimp that enhances its use in weaving and spinning. The fiber is hollow, which makes it lightweight and very warm. Unlike other fibers, pure alpaca fiber has little coarse guard hairs and does not have any lanolin. The entire blanket fleece is usable. The fiber is hypoallergenic and stronger than wool.
