Nigerian Goat Health & Herd Management, Farm and Fiber, Hickory Grove, Upton MA

We are proud members of the American Goat Society (AGS) and we take our goat health and management very seriously. We have a closed herd and all of our goats have been negative for Brucellosis, TB, CAE, CL and Johnes.

During the warmer weather, our herd has free range on five acres of beautiful pasture. We rotate the animals to various parts of the pasture in order to ensure proper nutrition and cleanliness. During the winter months, they have good quality orchard hay and Blue Seal sweet feed. The herd always has fresh water and loose minerals. The buck's grain contains ammonium chloride for urinary tract health.

Every 6 weeks, the goats are brought into the barn for their hoof trimming and a thorough 'once over'. Every spring they are properly vaccinated and the herd is dewormed as needed.
